On my way to the tram, I have to cross a road. I always stop, look and listen to my iPod as I didn't want a big Green Darth Vader to turn up and shout at me. I look right and step out. As I near the centre of the road, I turn to left and see a car rapidly approaching. It is heading right for me. He is going to cut across the centre line and save about 5 seconds on his journey. The sound of the engine becomes deafening as the car heads towards my fragile frame.
Every major event in my life passed before my eyes.
- Aged 3, I was in the USA and jet lag had caught up with me and I ended up falling asleep in a plate of rice. (I do not remember this but my family take every opportunity to remind me of it)
- I remembered once being accused of looking up the teacher's skirt. The teacher looked like a more masculine version of Les Dawson in drag.
- I recall my first night at University when that herbal cigarette was passed around and I was so naive, I didn't know what it was.
- I remember chucking up on my 21st Birthday all over the kitchen. (Or to be more precise, I remember not remembering)
- I remember being called in to see my boss and getting an absolute bollocking over making a mistake at work. It was one of the most depressing and upsetting days of my life. I spent an age going over and over it in my mind - thinking about how it happened and how I could have dealt with it better. (I had mis-spelt receive on a web page)
- I think back to when I decided to start an amusing blog and how I would try to steer clear of getting a cheap laugh by simply listing a bunch of stuff which got more bizarre as it went on.
- I flash back to my first kiss. She was 14 and it was behind the bike sheds. The whole school was envious of me. She was the prettiest girl in her year and her long auburn hair and athletic figure featured in every hormone filled man-child's fantasy as they "discovered themselves". I remember it like it was just last month - mainly because it was. (She was scared of the monsters officer - honestly!!)
So did the hit me? Was I seriously injured? Tune in on Monday to find out.
